Course Profile:
This course will give participants the skills they need to safely and professionally fly a drone. Creating content for productions safely and legally. The course will cover the following areas:
Specific Category: Specific Category permits more freedom of operation, and the ability to fly in controlled airspace and other geographic zones that are out of bounds to the Open category. It is also possible to conduct limited Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations that require aviation authority approval. To meet the increased risk profile of these operations, more competence in both the UAS Operator and remote pilot is demanded. These requirements are facilitated through more advanced operational procedures and training. A longer online course, with lectures in person. There is a flight training requirement for this category.
Open A1: Fly beside people. (drone weight less than 500g)
Open A2: Fly close to people. (50m horizontal safety distance from people not involved in the drone operation) Open A2 pilot qualification required. Drone must weigh less than 2kg.
Open A3: Flying area 150m from Residential, Commercial, Industrial & Recreational areas. No uninvolved persons within the flying area. Drone must weigh less than 25kg.
In all open categories, never fly close to or over ‘assemblies of people’.

Participant Profile:
This course is aimed at Camera department and Grip department crew working in the live-action Film & TV industry, previous on set experience is required for this course and you must have access to a drone for the flight training.
The course is limited to 8 participants
